Hay Festival 2023

‘From Nobel prize winners to historians and politicians, and of course the biggest contemporary literary names, Hay has something for everyone.’

Hay Festival is an independent, mission-led charity based in the book town of Hay-on-Wye, Wales, bringing together minds, ideas and literature through a programme of global literary talents, public figures and speakers, combining the arts, science and music. From Nobel prize winners to historians and politicians, and of course the biggest contemporary literary names, Hay has something for everyone. We came away from our time in the buzzy book town feeling inspired, encouraged and motivated to plough on with our mission to share the narratives the shape us and our society. It was joy to be surrounded by so many others who shared our passion for books and stories, in whatever form they may take. We’ve delved into some of the amazing conversation we heard during our time at Hay, exploring the themes and issues discussed, and the books you need to add to your radar!
